Our class in Year 9 are looking at four main skills, we are looking to improve our literacy. The Fab Four skills are:
Predicting
Questioning
Clarifying
Summarising
A skill that students use to improve their literacy is to be able to summarise what they see, read, hear, view or watch.
At the start of the term, our teacher Mr McCartney got us to write about our holidays under the heading BMEPMI - which is an acronym for beginning, middle and end, positives, minuses and interesting.
For the start of my holidays I was at my dad's house and I got an angry message from my mum saying “im very disappointed you forgot to walk the dog and you didn't empty the dishwasher so that tells me you must have been on the computer the whole day”. So for most of the day I was worrying about the consequences.
On Tuesday I went swimming at QE two with my sister and one of my friends. We went on the water slide about five times each because it wasn't too busy because there was an inflatable up that everyone wanted to do. On Friday I went ice skating with the same friend and it was at night so there were some games like spin the bottle and some other ones.
For the last of my holidays I went to Stewart island with my family and we went through the Catlins. I had to go on a lot of walks and it was very tiring and boring. Once we got to Stewart island we went on the playground then we went for even more walks around the bush. On the way to Stewart island when we were on the boat my grandma nearly threw up and we saw a pod of dolphins.
Summery: I had a day off before the holidays and I played on the computer for too long and forgot to walk the dog so I got banned from the computer for a bit. On Tuesday I went swimming at QE two with my sister and my friend Daisy. We went on the water slide about five times each because it wasn't busy. For the last week of my holidays I went down south all the way to Stewart island. On the way we stopped a lot in the Catlins to go for walks. It was very boring and I got very tired.
